Hello Lauris,The answer to your question has more than one part. We'll take them one at a time.
The first is "What is suffering?" Physical pain makes life miserable. Pain is a way we can attune to a problem in the body. It's a good idea that gets to be a burden when the pain is unbearable and doesn't stop. That is suffering.
All the rest of what we refer to as suffering is due to what man does to man or ignorance. Our forefathers, today's society, and we are creating suffering, or we're suffering because we have misconceptions. When we lose our job and can't pay the mortgage, we're really unhappy. But that's something someone has done to us, and we participated in doing it. If our spouse divorces us, we suffer, but it's something they're doing and it's a result of a system we created and participated in. That's suffering because of what man does to man.
If society or humankind loved one another unconditionally, in brotherhood, we would always step in to help someone. We would never offend. Most of what we see as suffering would go away.
If we fear death and can't cope when a loved one dies because we believe they're gone forever, that's ignorance. We are eternal beings. Our loved ones who die don't leave us; they're just in a different form. And in a few years, we'll join them. Our ignorance creates the suffering.
So suffering is a result of what man does to man and man's ignorance. It will go away when we and society mature spiritually.
The second part of the answer is that we are evolving humankind to eliminate the suffering and ignorance. We are learning, and as we learn, we're changing humankind, one person at a time. Eventually, humankind will be unconditionally loving, without fear of the transition called death. All of what we call suffering, except physical pain, will disappear. I know that sounds like pie in the sky dreaming, but it's simply a fact.
But the Earth time with its suffering that we're experiencing now is just one slice of Earth time. Every period of humankind's evolution is accessible to us. I use "accessible" rather than "exists" because things only exist when we're experiencing them. Otherwise, everything that has ever existed or ever will exist is accessible. It's on a vibration that our consciousness can access if we decide, when we're in a higher plane, not the Earth plane, to access it.
In other words, we could incarnate onto the Earth plane when people are unconditionally loving and there is no fear of death. That's a period in Earth's history that is accessible. And when we've matured spiritually to the point at which we can learn lessons on that plane, we may decide to incarnate into it. But we're not there now. We've decided to incarnate onto the Earth plane at this time, with man's inhumanity to man and ignorance, because this is where we need to learn lessons only this time in Earth's history and humankind's development could teach us. The challenges of this time, that we call suffering, are what we decided we needed. That's why we're here together and not on some other plane, including other planes on Earth.
So suffering is something man does to man and results from man's ignorance. Humankind is evolving away from inhumanity to each other and ignorance. Eventually, humankind will be unconditionally loving and have no fear of the transition called death. But for now, we have chosen to incarnate onto the Earth plane as it is now, with man's inhumanity to man and ignorance, because this time enables us to learn the lessons we decided we need to learn.
Love and peace, Craig
