Hi Craig,After reading your answer to me on the December 19th posting, I immediately began searching for any information I could find on references to animal souls in Larry Flint readings. To my surprise and delight, I found numerous references indicating a very strong presence of animals in the afterlife including birds and wildlife. The usual household pet was there too but a great deal of readings indicate a plethora of animals in general. I did not find a single reference to animals surviving only if loved by a human. In David Fontana’s excellent “Is There An Afterlife?”, he comes to the same conclusion: that animals on their own have souls who survive. He even refers to the idea that a pet must be loved by a human to survive as self centered on the part of people. I quote him directly here: “ It is sometimes suggested that if animals survive, they only retain their individuality in the afterlife if they have lived close to humans, and have been “given” individuality through human love. Otherwise, they return to the collective consciousness of their species. This claim typifies our rather self centered way of thinking. As humans, we regard ourselves as lords of creation, with every other life form subservient to us, and open to our exploitation. But there is no special warrant for this view, and it would be arrogant to suppose that our assumed superiority will persist into the next world. It may be that one of the lessons we would have to learn in an afterlife is the unity of all existence, with all of creation rising from the same source. If we wish in this world to recognize the inherent sacredness of all things, we must not assume that there are any special privileges reserved for our species in the next”. I am by no means trying to disagree with you – only to offer my research results as a point to ponder and to take into consideration. If you like, I can send you the Larry Flint reading references I came across. There a quite a few. I did not read the Supreme Adventure so it could be that there are references there to bolster the view that an animal must be loved by a human to survive, however even if that is the case, that is only one view. My very best to you.
